Is it normal to be able to gain and lose weight within days, or is my scale brok!

Question: Is it normal to be able to gain and lose weight within days, or is my scale broken!?
I decided that I wanted to lose 10 lbs to feel better about myself and my body!.!. I went for a short walk one day and didn't exercise for the rest of the week, but I didn't eat a bunch of junk like I normally do!. I walked again and when I got back I weighed myself and I had already lost 5 lbs!.!. I was shocked being that it was only a week with very little exercise!. I just pigged out on a bunch of junk yesterday and I just weighed myself and now I gained 3 lbs!. Is this possible, or is there something wrong with my scale!? I'm 17!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Water weight fluctuations are very common!. If you have a scale that shows you fat and/or water weight percentages, then you will be able to see what is going on with your weight a lot easier!.

Water weight can fluctuate as much as several lbs!. in a short number of days!. Ten pound fluctuations are not uncommon!.

For example, let's say that you endeavor to diet and exercise in earnest over a period of several days!.

Day 1: You weigh 150 lbs, and you modify your diet so there is less salt and fat, and you exercise more than you normally would!.
Day 2: You weigh 146 lbs!. You think that you have actually lost 4 lbs of weight!.

Now let's say that you used a scale that calculates fat percentage (the percentage of your body weight that is fat)!. On Day 1, your fat percentage is 31%!. On Day 2, your fat percentage is 32%!.

In cases where your fat percentage goes up in a short period of time, you can be sure that you have lost more water than actual fat!. Water weight fluctuations are really variable!. It's why women often complain of "feeling fat" during their premenstrual times!. What's happened is that their bodies have chosen to hold onto water, which causes water weight gain!.

There are a lot of reasons for water weight fluctuations, but two of the biggest causes are salt intake and sweating!. When you consume a lot of salt, you also are instructing your body to hold onto a lot of water in order to keep proper dillution ratios with the salt in your body!. You can lose weight with little effort just by reducing your salt consumption!.

Similarly, when you sweat a lot during exercise, you tend to lose salt, which tells your body that it's ok to let go of more water!. These drastic changes in water regulation in your body can make it seem like you've lost or gained a lot of weight when it's really just water!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It could depend on the time of day that you are weighing yourself!.!.!.it is best to weigh yourself on an empty stomach in the morning with nothing on!.!.!.that give the most accurate weight!.!.!.!.since it is not much of a difference in the pounds that you gained and lost!.!.!.!.it is probably you body flucuating in water weight!.!.!.!.so i don't think that there is any thing wrong with the scaleWww@Answer-Health@Com

The same thing happens to me!. The scale is probably reading a little bit higher than what it should!. You probably weigh 1-2 pounds less!. Check the scale tomorrow and go with that weight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your weight can fluctuate about 5 pounds a day!. That's why you're not supposed to weigh yourself everyday!.
I sometimes fluctuate 20 pounds in a week, depending on the week!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
