What is the cost and benefits of joining Curves?!

Question:

What is the cost and benefits of joining Curves?

I live in Northern NJ, how much is it to join a Curves around this area? Is it worth it? Do you have to have a set time everythime you go or is it flexible? I'm 22 am I going to feel like the baby of the class? Curves seems to advertise themselves more for older ladies. Details please like how much weight loss, in how long, ect.
Thanks

Curves usually costs a little over $30 a month, but you have to sign a one-year contract and agree to have the amount deducted monthly from your checking account or credit card. For an additional $10 they will let you go month-to-month and you don't have to worry about a contract. I live in Texas, so I can't give you any geographic specifics, but at the one I used to go to in my area there were quite a few younger women, granted some of them would come in with their moms. When I went, I was about average age (I'm 32).

I think the benefits are: it's really quick, you are only on each machine for 30 seconds, so you don't have time to develop that "I can't do this anymore mentality"; because you are working on a variety of machines, you get the chance to work a bunch of different muscle groups; it's a very supportive environment and the staff is really helpful.

I went for about six months and lost almost 40 pounds, but I was also doing Jenny Craig at the same time and taking belly dance classes. I think that Curves was responsible for a lot of my weight loss though.

The main drawback, and the reason I quit going, is they don't have great hours (especially if you work). They close pretty early (last workout is usually at 7:30 weekdays; they close at noon on Saturdays; and they are not even open on Sundays).

Curves did give me the confidence to try new things though. I started going to yoga classes and just found that I enjoyed that form of exercise more and the hours were more compatible with my schedule. Curves is still a great way to knock off some weight rather quickly though (provided you watch your diet simultaneously).
