Feeling bad about mixing cereals?

I usually mix my breakfast cereals together. Most of the combination is healthy, whole grain stuff, while on the top, I put little groups of chocolate and fruity cereals. I do this just so I can enjoy life as a kid, because one day, I'm going to stop. I've often contemplated stopping before but I thought life would be more fun if I continued. Anyway, my mom's decided to make pancakes for lunch with chocolate and PB chips in them, so when I forgot about the choco/pb chips and put chocolate cereal at the top of my bowl like always, I instantly felt horrible! I'm afraid now that I will consume too much fat and such. I can't tell my mom not to put in the chips in the pancakes, because I'm supposed to be gaining weight for health reasons, so my family wants me to have extra cals.


Answers:

Well, it sounds to me like a great compromise - adding a little of the "fun" stuff to the healthy cereal. I'm over 40 and love to indulge the part of myself that is still 12 years old sometimes. Yes - we must grow up, but that doesn't mean life has to be boring, or that we have to be perfect. As long as most of what you eat is healthy, a little kid's cereal and some chips in your pancakes aren't going to undo all your good choices.
