Is this a good HIIT workout?!


Question: Is this a good HIIT workout!?
I do it on the treadmill!. My current HIIT routine looks like this:

5-7 minute warm up jogging at 5-6 mph!.
After that I go do some resistance training for 15-20 minutes!.
Then I get back to the treadmill and do another 5 minute warm up!. 4 are jogging and the last one is walking!. Then I start my intervals!. Run at 9 mph for 1 minute and walk at 3 mph for 1 minute and repeat several times until the timer gets around 20-22 minutes!. After that I cool down for 3-5 minutes at walking pace!.

I do this 3 times a week now because I over trained my leg muscle!. I was doing it 4 times a week and I ran at 10-12 mph instead of 9!. I am going to gradually increase the speed when I feel it's right!. Does this sound like an effective HIIT workout!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, that's a great workout that I can give a few suggestions on!. It's great when people bring up HIIT, it's not as common as other exercises, but it is the best cardio workout!.

I would suggest a few things in your HIIT workout, on the last 3-5 minutes a jog at a moderate pace, unless it is too tiring!. Also, doing it 3 times a week is best, don't go overboard at 4 times a week like before!.

Make sure the days you do it aren't consecutive, for example, if you do HIIT on Monday try to do it on Wednesday rather than Tuesday for a better recovery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The key to an interval workout is not the speed you run but your heart rate at that accelerated speed!. You should consider buying a heart rate monitor for $50!. This way you can calculate your maximum heartrate and your target heart rate for your interval!. Your interval isn't bad though!. I would recommend doing an intense interval on a stationary bike if you can!. The treadmill tends to kinda help your feet along where as the bike is solely under your control!. Pedal on the bike like crazy for your high intensity portion and you wil lsee why the treadmill is not as good!. Goodluck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
