Is my workout program effective?!

Question:

Is my workout program effective?

I'm not really eating right per se, but I must be intaking all the main necessary components: protein, dairy, grain, fruit, and I take multivitamins to make up for any nutrients I'm not getting in my meals. Also, I'm not eating 6 meals a day, but am sticking to the "eat when hungry" program.

My routine consists of every morning doing about three reps for all the muscles I want to work, so that when I'm done I can't really do any more. I may get in a few pushups for example, but I'm pretty done at the end of each session. I also do cardiovascular -- jumping jacks, stair stepper, treadmill -- for a few minutes before I pack up.

Before and after I also drink lots of water, and try to whenever possible throughout the day. I also alternate days, doing my dumbbell reps, cardiovasc & stomach workout one day, then resting by sticking just to the cardiovascular on the next.

So my question is, am I wasting my time here? I managed to find good media on the net about diet, rest, alternating exercises to fight the body's getting too used to an exercise. I know nutrition is obviously far from a myth.. or something to be neglected.. but can I just stick to what I'm doing and get results.. or do I have to really make a career of it?
