How do I not get bored on the treadmilll?!


Question: How do I not get bored on the treadmilll!?
I really wanna lose the weight!. And I know that running is the best solution for my age!. I am 12 years old!. And My problem is I get to bored and quit after a minute so I don't get the exercise I need!. Please help so I don't get bored!. And yes I listen to music and watching T!.V makes it worseWww@Answer-Health@Com

The treadmill can be your friend, Truley! I have a special needs toddler and so cant get out much so, I "act a fool" on my treadmill!.!.!.what I mean is, I use the treadmill for all sorts of things!.!.!.like, lets say 1 session I might change the elevation to "hill" and climb that!.!.it works your tush and, makes you break out in a sweat!.!.in another session I attach a resistance band to the bar and wrap my hands around the ends so that when I am in quick-walk mode I can push my arms up and down like in a "ski machine"!.!.another session I use the same band to pull the strands up to me!.!.like in a preacher curl!.!.
I set goals for myself that day!.!.!.I say, Ill run for this time or that time at whatever speed, or if I am tired (say from, in my case, "mommy duty") Ill speed walk for distance and not speed per say!.
I have a brother about your age (he's 13) and I know what its like to want to lose weight and have a hard time staying motivated (heck, its hard as an adult to stay motivated at times), and as for the weight itself, focus more on how your clothes feel and your measurements (once you start a regimen) and not so much on the scale (I fall into that trap all the time!) as you put on muscle at times just from running and speed walking!.!.!.oh, and, I have to stress, please, please stretch and warm up BEFORE you run!.!.you will be able to stay on longer and run the risk of getting less impact injuries! make sure you are running at a pace thats comfortable at first and, enjoy yourself, picture a goal, or something that motivates you and makes you happy!.!.because if something doesnt make you happy or isnt enjoyable you are less able to keep up with it!. Maybe you can find a local "work out friend" your age, and remember to SWITCH IT UP! cross train (do all sorts of excersises, not just running, try a swiss ball and light weights with LOTS of reps!.!.you are still growing so please, id rather you NOT hurt yourself, but have fun!)Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, at age 12 your top concern shouldn't necessarily be to lose the weight, but rather to have a healthy body!. At age 12, running on a treadmill is a healthy activity, and its a great habit to get into!.

I am the same way!.!.!. I get bored doing machines!. What I found to keep my interest is warm up by doing a brisk walk on it for 5 minutes, at around 3mph!. Then bump it up to 5mph for two minutes, then down to 3!.3 mph, for two minutes, then back to 2!.8 mph for 1 minute, and then back to the 5mph!. Repeat this cycle!. Not only does it keep things interesting by changing things up, experts say keeping the speed or intensity changing helps your body lose weight faster!. I do this for 25-30 minutes currently, and then I switch it up with stationary bike, and stepmill!.

That's my suggestion!.!.!. it might work for you!. Mostly though, what keeps me going is knowing I am getting healthier!. I don't hurt after 30 minutes of activity anymore, and I feel healthier!.

hmm, I have this same problem!. I try to use my music to keep me motivated!. I put on a really loud and upbeat song and run for the duration of that song, and then i slow down to a nice walking pace and play a slower song!. and i repeat it over and over!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe the treadmill isn't for you!. At twelve maybe you should try a hip- hop dance class, bike riding or during aerobics, since you like listening to music!. The YMCA has lots of healthy fun activities for kids your age!.
