Question: This can't be healthy, can it!?
Okay I have this friend who has a very strange way of eating!. She doesn't eat all day but then just eats a whole bunch at dinner!. For example, last night she ate an entire pizza by herself but didn't eat anything all day!. We added up the calories of the entire pizza and it was 1120!. She doesn't lose weight by doing it (She's been eating like this forever and is still a bit over weight) but do you think it's unhealthy to eat like that everyday!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah!.!.!. she's putting her body into "starvation mode" (google it) where her body doesn't get the sufficient amount of calories it needs THROUGHOUT the day (in other words skipping meals) so when it does finally get some calories it stores it as fat and at the same time HOLDS ONTO THE FAT that the body already has in order to sustain itself through a PERCEIVED famine (because your body thinks it's starving without enough calories throughout the day) and in essence starts to eat its own muscle and bone while keeping fat in store!.

I don't need to tell you how storing fat while eating bone and muscle is bad!.!.!.

A good diet consists of three medium meals of breakfast, lunch, dinner!.!.!. with three small meals for snacks in between!.!.!. that way your body gets a certain amount of calories throughout the day that it needs in order to function effeciently!.!.!.

Yes it's very unhealthy! (Look at the food pyramid in websites 'sources')

Your body needs a balance of everything!. Hers is mostly sugars and fats it seems!.

It's important to have protein, vitamins, and calcium! Try getting her to eat healthier!.

For breakfast- Whole grain cereal, orange juice, toast or bagel with butter or peanut butter!.

For lunch- You could have (out of all of the many food options!.!.!. that are HEALTHY) a sub or sandwich with meats, or vegetables!. Sides may include fruits, side salad, or one of my favorites; a fruit or veggie tray!

For dinner- Either a grilled chicken salad with lots of vegetables, or veggie soup with buttered bread!.

Panaras also offers some great healthy choices! I LOVE LOVE LOVE they're creamy tomato soup with a little cheese in a bread bowl!

The options I give you is just a little! They're are so many great choices! Google "healthy balance or healthy foods" to help!

ok, if you care about your friend i suggest you tell her to stop doin that right away!. First off, you need a balanced and healthy breakfast to get you started during the day, or else you wont have any energy to do what you need to do! Second, lunch is important because you need to refill after a hard day's work or else you will be completely drained ( that's not healthy either), and third, if you don't eat all day and wait until dinner, that will just increase your appetite and you will eat like a monster at dinner!. If it's not enough that you're already trying to cram a whole day's worth of nutrition into one meal, your increased appetite will probably cause you to eat more than what you would in a normal day! Also, cramming so much food into your digestive track at once will slow your metabolism a great deal, and that will cause you to retain more fat and glucose content, which NOT healthy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Binge eating at mealtimes then not eating anything else- I would say that's not very healthy because her body has to deal with a huge mass of food at once!.

It's healthier to have a few small meals & snacks throughout the day to sustain your energy levels!.

Pizza isn't the healthiest choice- but it's ok in moderation!. It's good to vary the foods you eat- pizza every day is likely to make you feel ill after a while!. Sticking with one food isn't good!. Don't forget fresh fruit and vegetables!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes I do!. She's fasting her body for the whole day so in affect, it doesn't think it's going to get anything!. As soon as she 'binge eats' (for want of a better expression) her body immediately wants to absorb as much of the meal as possible, because it will probably be a long time until the next meal!. So yes, this is unhealthy, especially if it's every day!. Maybe advise her to go see a dieticain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Absolutely!. She's not getting the vitamins that she needs and if her body does not lose weight on 1120cal, she's clearly damaged her metabolism!. I'd suggest getting her to a nutritionist and creating a healthy, balanced meal plan for her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
