Studies are starting to show that you don't really need to work that hard, as long as you get regular exercise!. One-half hour/day of something as simple as energetic walking can be good enough to maintain good health, and an hour/day to s-l-o-w-l-y lose weight, which is the best way to do it!.

Set a target of no more than a pound a week!. Weigh yourself regularly, and always at the same time of day!. If you try to lose weight too fast, your body will change its metabolism so that it becomes harder to loose weight!.

For a vigorous aerobic dance regimen, you may only need 45 min!./day to lose some weight, especially if you are already doing some moderately long walks!. For your walking, if can get a chance to walk up and down some stairs (or up and down bleachers at a local park), that will really get the heart pumping!. You should think about getting a pedometer to help record your walks!.

Remember to eat well and in moderation (lots of fruits and veggies, very little animal fat, no sweetened soft drinks, no diet soft drinks, no junk food, regular helpings of fish, etc!.)!. Keeping a food diary can help, and there are even a few websites that can help you!.

You should start off slowly!. If you haven't been doing much aerobic exercising up until now, 15-20 minutes would be a reasonable start!. Then increase the time 5-10 every week until you reach the maximum that you want to do!.

Remember that you don't have to do it all at once!. You could do half in the morning and half in the evening!.

Make sure that you are using some good shoes, and it's best if you don't do the dancing on too hard of a surface (which may cause shin splints, ankle problems, etc)!. If the floor is too hard (like the wood directly on top of the concrete foundation where I live), get a nice-sized mat to dance on!.

It's best to mix things up!. Just doing the same aerobics dance routines every day will get boring and you'll probably end up quitting!. Occasionally do some energetic long walks, long weekend hikes, jogging, bicycling, swimming, etc!.

If your city recreation department has some dance classes, you might try one of those!. It's fun to do dance routines in a group, and it will probably be cheaper than joining a gym!.

I took some great jazz and modern dance classes while in college, and even took a couple of ballroom dance classes!. Even waltz and foxtrot can be good exercise if you do it for an hour, and swing, cha-cha, samba, salsa, etc!. will give you some good aerobic exercise!.

[A suggestion for gyms if you want to try one: don't necessarily look at the obvious commercial gyms!. My local Jewish community center has a very nice gym at a great price, and you don't have to be Jewish!. Also, don't start a gym in the January "New Years Resolution" period!.]

[Sorry about the length--my answer just kept growing and growing!. ;-)]Www@Answer-Health@Com

1 hour and 30 minutes is more than enough, keep up the good work and you will loose more than what you expected but you need to eat more than before, stay away from fatty food and eat less carbs, eat veggies, fruits and protein, follow the food pyramid for your healthy well being!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you don't have time but you want to get excercise in!? Even if you did have loads of time interval training is the best and it takes maybe half an hour!?
read up on interval training!. you can do it running around the block, cycling, jumping rope or whatever!.
