How can I stop my crave for junk food?!

Question:

How can I stop my crave for junk food?

I am TRYING to be on a diet. I could do it in 2 months eating no junk food and then bam I eat a lot again and gain back my weight. I didn't eat junk food yesterday because I wanted to go back and by next day.. today.. I just ate a chocolate... Why am I doing it when I am aware? It feels good to eat chocolate.. I notice that my mouth just becomes watery when I keep saying no and then next sec I just have to and do it. I don't buy the junk food here, it's easier to say no to junk food when you have to buy it than when it's there in your own home and you can grab it by the sight of it. I am so confused why when I want this change I can't block it out of my mind completely. I feel like I have no control. I am at normal weight but this is not doing me any good. I want to be able to have control and cut it out completely. What do you do? I was thinking of subsituting something sweet like lemonade or oatmeal cookies. Idunno.

Answers:

A popular question that I hear is about how to stop giving in to food cravings. How to stop eating your favourite junk food. Maybe it's chocolate or ice-cream or candy of some kind, or maybe it's cookies and cake, or potato chips or fast food, or something you just love to eat, but need to stop eating because it's junk food. Whether you are trying to lose weight or gain weight, no matter what your goals are, everyone likes some kind of junk food and needs to stop eating it now. But, some people just can't stop. They just can't "get rid of the cravings" for these foods, and just can't stop giving in to their food cravings.
Common craving triggers include:
* Television
* Internet
* Workplace
* Parties.
What each of these triggers has in common is that they are times when your defenses may be down. For instance, when you're watching TV you may give into your cravings without realising it, because you are so engrossed with what you are watching. It's the same thing when you are surfing the Internet. At the workplace, you may be stressed out and head for that bowl of candy on your co-worker's desk to give you that temporary boost. And at parties, there so many foods being offered - many that aren't good for you - that you just eat them because everyone else is.
AVOID ALCOHOL - Alcohol lowers your defenses, so if you are at a party with a lot of food that you want to avoid, try not to drink too much alcohol because you may end up overeating.
EXERCISE MORE - When you exercise, your mood is elevated and you are less likely to crave the foods that you turn to when you are looking for a boost.
GARGLE WITH MOUTHWASH - Nothing tastes good after you gargle with a medicinal mouthwash such as Listerine, so this is a good trick to employ if you feel a craving coming on.
CHOOSE SUBSTITUTES - Keep foods that you crave out of your house. Instead, buy fruits and vegetables, which are very hard to eat too much of.
