How much more effective are exercises on the swiss/exercise balls then just regu!

Question:

How much more effective are exercises on the swiss/exercise balls then just regular exercises on the floor?

I've heard they're about %65-%408 more effective. Give me examples of the best exercises (please :D). But, I've also heard that some fitness experts say that %70 of swiss ball exercises are worthless. Can you give me examples of these worthless exercises?

My first time on an exercise ball was yesterday at the gym. I did crunches on them and immediately I felt my stomach burning after 2 crunches. They're obviously better then regular crunches since it takes me at least 20 on the floor to feel the effects, and they're no where near as intense as the few I did on the swiss ball.

PS. They're just plain fun to use also, I'm going to go buy one for me and my moms today :D

Answers:

Heres the deal with a swiss ball. It adds variety to your workout. The other advantage is you can hyperextend on the ball to get a better stretch in the abdominal region.

The best exercises for you abs are #1 the good old bicycle maneuver, #2 hanging leg raises, #3 V-ups #4 crunches.

There are a variety of crunches you can do, such as bringing your knees and elbows together then extending straight out, its called a roll-up

As far as one of the best ab exercises on a swiss ball. Do a plank on the ball. A plank is a push-up position.instead of having your hands holding you up on the ball, rest on your forearms. back is in a diagonal line (just like the push up, dont arch back, dont sag in middle). DO NOT sink in to ball, meaning dont sink down into your forearms with your chest. Stay up at a 90 degree angle. Hold that pose for 30 seconds.

Tell me how your abs feel. I have alot more difficult but fun exercises with a ball also, but if two crunches burn your not ready yet.

Last tip, order of precedence training abs #1 lower, #2 obliques, #3 upper
