Why do you lose less weight when you weigh less?!

Question:

Why do you lose less weight when you weigh less?

I used to weigh 182lbs, and I would go on the StairMaster at the gym for 60min and burn over 550 calories. Now, I weigh 176lbs and go for the same amount of time but burn only 490 calories. Why is that?

Answers:

You are working against less force. It took more energy (that's calories) to move 182 pounds than it does to move the 176. Although, six pounds isn't a big difference, so... Did you have a birthday recently? The machines do take your age into account. And pay attention to how hard you're working out, keep it consistent. Look for "total number of strides" or "reps" or "calories per minute". That way you will know when you are not working out as hard as usual for some reason. Also, you really should alternate your cardio machines. If you do 30 minutes 5 times a week, that should be good. You can work out harder during each session and end up burning more calories for the week. Good luck.
