Is there a relationship between certain carbohydrates and ethnic background?!

Question:

Is there a relationship between certain carbohydrates and ethnic background?

I actually have two questions:

1) Taking as an example .. very generally and narrowly ... If you're Asian and your main staple food is rice; Caucasian's staples of pasta and potatoes... Do some ethnic groups handle certain carbs better than others? Meaning do you find that if Asians eat pasta and potatoes like they eat rice, they tend to gain weight more easily than if they were to stick to rice? ...and if Caucasians eat rice / noodles, some do not feel as full at the end of the meal?

2) The whole idea of eating guidelines set out by the American / Canadian Nutritionists, do they apply to all ethnicities or lean more towards caucasians?

Answers:

good question; I think everybody is different, but Asians in general tend to be skinny, and I think that it's not the carbohydrates in and of themselves, but what gets put on them, for example, many asians will eat plain rice but how many italians eat plain spaghetti noodles? Lots of em' pile on the sauces, and the sauces are what make people fat. (and the food tasty I may add)
