Question: Im fat! i've gained 10 pounds this summer! Help!
ok!.!.i am 14 years old and am a girl!.!.!.!.i weigh a whopping 165 pounds!! i gained 10 pounds this summer! so i decided to stop eating between meals and to eat a little less at meals!.!.!.and to drink a bunch more water and to go on walks every day!.!.i start field hockey in about a week!. will this help me lose weight!?!? please help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Here are some guidelines for me to help manage my weight:

+ Drink water; many times you're actually thirsty and your body confuses it with hunger!. This will also help flush your system out!.

+ Control your portions!. If you have a large plate and put a cup of pasta on it, it looks like you're eating a lot less than putting a cup of pasta on a smaller plate! Your mind and body work together, so you can "fool" your mind into thinking you have more food when you put your food on smaller plates, etc!. Plus, most portions in restaurants now are grossly oversized!.

+ Pay attention to the food pyramid!. Instead of filling up on snacks or starches, always try to substitute it for vegetables (you need more veggies than fruits)!. Try to varietize things to make your meal more interesting! Learn new recipes; not all "healthy" foods have to taste bad!. :)

+ Exercise: It sounds like you're already taking this initiative, which is a huge step! Keep on it and make it a daily thing for life!.!.!. it will help you greatly!.

+ Eat until you're satisfied, not full!. This one is a no-brainer, and it makes you feel more agile without a huge meal weighing you down!.

Oh my goodness! I know this story all too well!. I believe this is the ONLY summer I haven't gained weight! :)

You know, just evaluate why you've gained the weight, and what you did before you've gained it!. I normally find I over eat because I haven't got a set schedule, and even if I haven't got classes during the summer and do work longer days, for some reason I tend to eat more!.

I would say just keep doing what you're doing!. Have the regular meals you used to, do try to stay active!.!. I'm sure it will come off quickly, as the pounds have seemed to go on quickly!.
