Where can I learn about fitness and working out?!

Question:

Where can I learn about fitness and working out?

I'm a nutrition major and obviously, exercise (as well as nutrition) is also an important part of being healthy. I give a lot of people nutrition (especially weight loss) advice and part of my advice to them is to exercise. (everybody knows the importance of exercise) The only probem is that I don't know enough about exercising/working out to tell people exactly what types of workouts to do, how, and how much. I can only tell them the minimum amount of info I know. Where can I take classes to become knowledgeable like a personal trainer? I want to know as much about working out as I do about nutrition.

Answers:

You can go through any certifying agency and get a basic knowledge of exercise science fundamentals, if you wanted to you could even get certified as a personal trainer. There are some universities that offer distance education courses and professional certificates in personal fitness training, Thomas Jefferson University is one of them.

If you needed some quick info you could also read some of the posts I have put on my yahoo group forum.

I am a personal trainer and provide helpful information and advice to those that are unfamiliar with exercise principles.

Bodybuilding.com is a good resource, but most of the advice written on there is for advanced or elite athletes. Most novices would be overwhelmed if not prone to serious injury if they adhered to some of the advice on there.
