What is your opinion on lowcarb diets? Also, have you been on one?


Answers:

Low carb diets, when done properly and by the book, can result in dramatic weight loss. They can also result in kidney problems, constipation, high blood pressure and other health problems. This is of course why you're not supposed to be on them for too long. But if losing weight is your goal and you're willing to put up with certain things then a low carb diet can work.

I did one of these things years ago when I was in my body building phase and wanted to lose the last 10 pounds of fat around my belly. No matter what I did I couldn't get rid of it, I mean this stuff had inertia and simply wouldn't budge so I looked around and gave it a 1-2 punch in the form of lactic acid training and a low carb diet.

The diet was fun at first, I got to eat bacon and eggs every day. I had steak on an almost daily basis and I was eating full-fat cheeses without worrying that I was eating too much. I was also taking about a dozen different vitamins and minerals to make up for what I was missing in my diet. The diet quickly became monotonous and by the 5th week I was so sick of eating the same things that it literally took me 2 years before I could look at another plate of bacon and eggs and not feel nauseous.

During the first week or so I found myself feeling rather tired all the time and a little fuzzy headed due to the lack of carbs but that quickly passed.

Finally by the 6th week I had managed to lose the weight and for the first time in my life could actually see my abs.

So they're possible to do and you will get results but they're very difficult to stick to and extremely strict for your food selections. Also while effective they can put a big strain on your body so if you have an existing condition like kidney problems or high blood pressure you should check with your doctor before attempting such a thing.
