Waist to Hip Ratio and losing a few inches in the waist?!

Question:

Waist to Hip Ratio and losing a few inches in the waist?

Hello,

I have a summer goal of losing 4 inches off my waist..and I'm not sure if this is reasonable or not. The plan is to excerise 5 times a week - doing 3 days of strength training (30 minutes) and 5 days of cardio for about 30 minutes (in addition to strenght training). As well I will try to eat healthier - not giving up everything... but I currently eat like a piggy! :)

Currently my waste is 29 inches and the widest part of my hip is 37 inches. At the start of university I was 115 lb and had 24/25 inch waste and 36 inch hips. If it matters my height is 5 foot 7inches.

Based on this information my current waste to hip ratio is 0.78 (29/37)... now is this healthy??? - various websites give different results? My goals is to be 0.69 (25/36).

Also is it possible to lose 4 inches from the waist in 2 months? Personally I think dropping 8 pounds to get back to 120 lb is easier. Any suggestions for excerises or foods would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

Answers:

Yes, you are healthy as you are. As long as your waist hip ratio is not over 0.8 this is good.

You may just about be able to lose 4 inches in two months, but be aware that your hips may end up smaller than 36, because fat doesn't always just come off the places you want it to!

To be honest, I think you should just stay as you are. You sound perfectly healthy.
