Raw food diet?!

Question:

Raw food diet?

I am wondering is this really a feasable diet? Is it necessary, safe or healthy? What about all the raw cheese and milk it promotes...

Answers:

Yes it is feasible. I did the raw food diet for quite a few months a few years ago. It worked well, my energy levels went up, and I lost some weight. Once you get the hang of the "pyramid" and how to get your nutrients the raw way, it's simple. Raw food is not only a diet type, but a lifestyle change, just like being a vegetarian, or deciding to work out regularly.
People may think that you do not get enough food when you eat raw. That is not the case. You just eat normally until you are comfortably full. Also, you will be eating much larger portions of fruits and vegetables than you normally would, it's just because you are substituting more raw for cooked. Cooked foods sometimes make you fuller faster, since they are "heavier". The caloric intake remains at a healthy level though. Also, we often forget to take a multi-vitamin (there are some nutrients that we just don't get enough of on our own regardless of what diet we consume). So, it'd be good to look into taking a vitamin as you make a transition to raw foods.
I stopped the raw thing, because I really didn't have enough will power to keep 80-100% raw. But, you can still keep your meals 70% raw, and see the benefits, and results.
I'd really recommend that you check out Shazzie.com. She's a raw foodist from the UK, and her site is just great, it's got some awesome links, and tons and tons of information.
