Is a BMI of 19 okay?!

Question: Is a BMI of 19 okay!?
hey everyone!.

im 15 and 164cm/51kg (5'4!.5"/112!.2lbs) and my bmi is therefore 19!. im of a naturally slim build, but i am trying to put on weight and reach about 54kg/ 119lbs!. im eating about 2600 cals per day (healthy stuff) so if i keep this up until september, do you think it is possible for me to reach my target weight!?

iv got a small bust size (32B), waist is 25 and hips are 35!. in that sense im okay, yet iv got skinny arms and legs!? as i gain weight, where will the fat mostly distribute to!? (im wanting fat at the moment, il turn it to muscle at some other point)

am i okay, do you think!? i know im skinny, people tell me that a LOT but to have a bmi of 19 is OKAY, right!?

plz give me some advice!. thank you everyone :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm 5'6" and weigh 8st 5!. My BMI is also 19!. I have a 24" waist and 34" hips!. My chest is 30B!. You are absolutely fine!.

I LIKE being how I am; a BMI of 19 is infinitely preferable to one of 63 which was what mine was!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You you are fine, but if you want to gain weight you can try and gain muscle!. To do this you need to do strength training and weight lifting 3-4 times a week and eat a high protein diet!. It won't happen overnight, but if you are persistant you will start to notice changes after a few months!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yeah, i guess iv you're naturally slim, its hard to make a judgement, but looking at it overall, id say its ok!. as long as you eat healthy and stuff its fine!. i think maybe you should carry on trying to gain that extra weight, so you are safe inside the healthy margin :)

A BMI of 20-25 is normal weight!. 25-30 is overweight, over 30 is obese!. So 19 is very slightly underweight, but nothing to be too scared about =) Mine is 21!.5!.!.!. which is!.!.!. good, basically!. I would say: be worried if you start losing weight; be happy if you gain some; 54kg is a good target!Www@Answer-Health@Com

yup 19 is fine huni
look as long as u eat healthy and regulary exercise u got nothing to worry about
enjoy life iv spent 10 yrs worrying about my weight n what was the point!?

You may be skinny, but you're at a healthy weight!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes Www@Answer-Health@Com

yeah!.!.you're at a underweight stage though!.!.!. but your not overweight or near it!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Under 18!.5* Underweight
18!.5* - 25 Healthy Weight
25 - 30 Overweight
30 - 40 Obese
Over 40 Severely obese

* There are two different ranges for healthy BMI put forward by different, but respected, sources!. The British Nutrition Foundation, for example, gives 20-25 as healthy range and less than 20 as underweight!. The Food Standards Agency's BMI calculator gives 18!.5-25 as healthy and less than 18!.5 as underweight!. Cancer Research UK gives both ranges in different sections of its website!. It seems that we can be a bit relaxed about a BMI of between 18!.5 and 20, and not start worrying about being underweight unless BMI is less than 18!.5!. Having said that, we would not recommend that anybody with a current BMI of less than 20 should try to lose weight!.

you are okayWww@Answer-Health@Com

BMI gets a lot of attention because people want to use it to tell if they are overweight or not, but there are factors that come into play that BMI does't take into account!. The bottom line for you should be at the age of 15 is that your body is still doing mega-developing (as a girl you'll be pretty much done by age 20-22)!. You will best serve yourself by making sure you are eating healthy natural foods in reasonable quantities and getting lots of exercise!. Stay skinny as long as you can, cause once you put it on, your body has a hard time getting rid of it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
