Question about daily calorie intake?!

Question:

Question about daily calorie intake?

I am a 15 year old and am 5 foot 8 and at a normal weight. I don't exercise too often. My dietitian and doctor have me on a 2,500 calorie a day diet and I think this is too high. What do you think?

Answers:

Twenty-five hundred calories is about the number of calories required for "basic maintenance" in an adult male who is not exercising or working in a strenuous physical occupation. It seems a bit high if you're aiming at weight loss, but if you have a dietician and a doctor recommending it, I'd go with what they recommend; they're the professionals, after all.
