Low fat or low carb?!


Question: Low fat or low carb!?
I LOVE CARBS! (surprisingly not bread or pasta though!. more like pretzels, cereal, and candy) I've been following a low fat diet and haven't been getting any results!.

I love carbs and used to eat them all the time: don't really like dairy, oils, or protein as much as sugar, fiber, and carbs!. Is this why I haven't been getting results!?
Should I switch over to a high fat diet and cut out most carbs!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

First off remember you have to burn off more calories than you consume!. To lose 2 lbs!. a week you need a deficit of 1000 calories a day!. To do this as someone mentioned before exercise and type of exercise is extremely important!. You need to do both resistance muscle building exercise to increase metabolism and cardio to burn off fat!.

As far as diets go, according to a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Assoc!. researchers found that weight loss can be dependent on body type!. For instance pear shaped people lost weight equally on either low fat or low carb, but had difficulty keeping it off!. Apple shaped people lost 3 times as much weight on a low glycemic diet compared to a fat restriction diet!.

I have had great results in my practice with low glycemic diets!. This means eating foods that cause a lower insulin response in the body!. This means lean meats, fish, poultry, berries, citrus, legumes, vegetables, and only small amounts of whole grains!. Above all stay away from high fructose corn syrup!. Why not do both!?

Just because you go low carb doesn't mean you have to eat a lot of fat!.

The number one reason your probably not losing weight is the sugar!. You could just start watching how much sugar you eat and see if that helps!. Maybe try under 50 grams of sugar a day!.
