Reasons for wanting to lose weight....!

Question: Reasons for wanting to lose weight!.!.!.!.
I used to go to the gym and had a great trainer a couple of years ago and for various reasons (moved, job changed so timing didn't work so well etc!.)!. I am overweight and want to be healthier!. I have recently re-joined a gym and have a new trainer and she keeps telling me I need to find the reason why I want to lose weight because (well she didn't come right out and say this but I think she implied it) that if you're just losing the weight to have the "perfect body" then it won't matter how much you lose it will come back!. I told her that I want to be healthier first and foremost, but I do think that I would be happier if I were skinnier!. i've also decided to change my lifestyle in the sense of what i am eating so that it is healthier too!. I am just tired of being and feeling blah all the time!.

Do I have the right outlook here!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
yes, Changing your lifestyle will help you, but your drive is based on determination and focus, YOU HAVE TO DO THIS RELIGIOUSLY EVERYDAY!. Changing diet and working out 3-4 days a week for at an hour will help you feel better, build up your confidence, build up your motabolism, and create a better sense of self worth!. Everything is based on your attitude, but if you religiously work out, doing physical activities, and changing your diet, you will feel better about yourself!. Try to overcome your objections when you dont feel like it, just do it!.

It sounds like you've got it right!. I think your trainer just wants you to realize that you'll never have the perfect body!. You'll always notice "imperfections", so all your efforts at the gym will be a waste of time if you're trying achieve perfection!. It just won't happen!. You can, however, have a healthy and fit body and be proud of it!. Keep up the good work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, that is the best outlook to have on this!.

To reinforce your attitude, go shopping and get a really cute outfit one or 2 sizes too small!. Hang it either on the fridge or pantry door!. You will have to look at it everytime you go to the kitchen for food!. This will remind you why you are doing this!. When you can fit into it really nicely, either go get another one if weight is not where you want yet, or try something different!.

One of my friends had a thyroid problem!. the meds were preventing her from carrying a pregnancy more than a few months!. Well, the doc took her off the meds, she had the baby, but gained a ton!! She fell in love with a dress I made for myself!. Asked if she could have it for inspiration to get the weight off, I said yes, and let her have the dress!. It worked, in a couple of years with hard work and the meds to control the throid, she was finally able to wear the dress, but by then I had moved so didn't ever see the dress again even on her!.

We all need a motivation to stick with the program and change our whole lifestyle!. It isn't just a matter of dieting, it is how we live!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like you have some good reasons to loose weight
-Look Thinner
-Be Healthier!.

Those are good, but perhaps your trainer wants you to have a more specific goal that involves a specific time and ideal weight goal!. If you can't think of something already like "look good for the "big" day" try imposing one like run a 5k, loose that belly fat, or swim a mile!. Trainers tend to have the "eyes on the prize mentality" so this probably what she is looking for!.

I agree though that a moderate outlook seems the most congruent with daily life!. I also think there probably nothing wrong with it, if not being a good "outlook"!. It also reflects my own personal outlook, but might have something to do with why i don't look like a supermodel, and don't run marathons!.

Generally speaking it sound like you are making healthy choices toward eating right, losing weight, and gaining energy!. (Hiring a trainer, joining a Gym, watching what you eat)!. You really can't have a wrong outlook, and the only things I would truly warn against is if you were trying to loose too much weight, about to turn to drugs to gain muscles, or interested only in physical appearances!. While it might be more rewarding to have a specific goal, and a nice way to pat your self on the back at the end, if you are already determined, it probably isn't neccesary!.

It could be that what your trainer is trying to get at is why you are overweight in the first place!. A lot of people put on weight because they have emotional issues that they have never dealt with!. This could be anything from grief over the death of a loved one to a broken heart to low self esteem caused by any number of factors!. When you feel bad about yourself, it causes you to feel worthless and stops you from looking after yourself properly!. If you don't figure out what it is that has made you stop looking after yourself, you may find it difficult to stay motivated or to maintain any weight loss you may achieve!.

The psychological and emotional causes for weight gain are only beginning to be researched now, but they seem to be as important a determining factor as any "fat gene"!. Maybe your trainer has read up on this and is interested in taking a holistic view of weight loss and fitness!. Every part of who you are will influence your motivation and dedication to your new fitness program!.

The fact that you say you want to be healthier rather than better looking is a good first step!. Just keep in mind the axiom "a healthy mind in a healthy body"!. You can't have one without the other!. And best of luck in your efforts - you seem to be doing everything right so far!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
