What foods can make you lose weight?!

Question:

What foods can make you lose weight?

What foods can do that. How many calories do I need to burn to lose 3-4 lbs a week?

Answers:

Grapefruit is supposed to be a big promoter of weight loss. It has properties in it that help to burn fat.

Also, drinking water can help you lose weight. Dump the caffeine and sugar drinks and just drink water. Water is a natural cleanser to your body and it helps to push out fat cells in your blood stream this in turn does not allow them to stay in your body so you can lose weight.

There is no set limit on calories, it just depends on your activity level. If you don't burn off all the calories that you consume that's when you start to gain weight.

Exercising, yes, even walking, can help you burn off the calories and keep you from gaining too many.

Just to help a little - you can burn the most calories by running/jogging if you are pressed for time but this is not the easiest thing for everyone to do.

On average running/jogging can burn up to 100 calories every 10 minutes of exercise, depending on your weight.

Walking burns about half of that. Roughly 60 calories for every 10 minutes. This would also be moderate to fast walking. Slower walking will burn less.

Swimming is the 2nd highest exercise for burning calories and can be as high as 85 calories for every 10 minutes of exercise.

Again these are just averages, everything from intensity of the workout to current weight affects all of this. There are plenty of charts available on the web that can break this down by exercise, weight and level of activity.

Also, the average person burns about 3 - 5 lbs the first week that they start a new exercise program, sometimes more and then after that the average is about 1 - 3 lbs for each week thereafter. If you change your diet and exercise you might see even better results. There just isn't enough information in the question to recommend what would work best for you.
