Does pilates create a muscular body or a slimmer body?!

Question:

Does pilates create a muscular body or a slimmer body?

I've just started doing accelerated Winsor Pilates to help tone my body and I've also been jogging for 30 minutes a day for the past two weeks. The part of my body that I'm trying to tone down the most is my butt. It's really really big, and I was just wondering if pilates would make it smaller or more muscular. Quite frankly I would like to have a more muscualar body and so far I've progressed well in my arms, abs, back and calves. I'm having trouble with my thighs and my butt though. I want to make my butt a NORMAL size and make my thighs tight, small, and muscular. I KNOW I'm going to continue to run for the rest of my life because I love it. What I'm trying to ask is, how will pilates change my body? I know it might depend on what kind of a metabolism you have or something, but overall, how would it affect my body?

Answers:

Both. You will get strong muscles and strong core, but they won't look like you had lifted weights, they won't be all bulging. You will look longer and leaner because it pulls everything in. Think of the way a person who does energetic yoga looks. Try doing pilates 3 days per week and running or Tae Bo the other 3 days with one off day make the days alternate so you hit different muscle groups.
