I have heard that it is not good to go on a "diet" but instead eat pro!

Question:

I have heard that it is not good to go on a "diet" but instead eat properly and exercise, wouldn't this be

considered a form of dieting, especially if you have not exercised in a long time and been have eating things like fast food, and other junk?

Also what is the best way for someone to begin, when they are considered morbidly obese by doctors? And have never really put forth a real effort to better themselves untill now.

Answers:

People use the word "diet", but what they really mean is "fad diet". You diet consists of everything you eat.

What you are looking for is a lifestyle change not a short-term "fad diet".

Start by educating yourself on proper portion size.

Start an exercise program (as easy as 30 minute walks every other day that can be broken into three 10 minute walks during the day) and work up to at least 30 minutes every day.

Cut down on sugar intact, non-lean meat, and processed grains (white bread and anything made with white flour).

Think fresh...fresh fruits and veggies are awesome!

Don't deprive yourself entirely, or you will end up going on a binge.

Making small changes over a period of time will make a lot of difference.

If you have the funds available, join Weight Watchers. It's a support system and it allows you to make your own food decisions rather than having to buy their pre-prepared food.
