Is there anything bad about taking an ice bath?!

Question: Is there anything bad about taking an ice bath!?
our first 3 hour volleyball practice was this morning!. afterwards, my legs felt like jelly, and i knew soreness would follow soon, so i went home to stretch, and then i took an ice cream bucket and filled it with ice, threw the ice in the bathtub and filled the tub full of cold water, and sat in there for 15 minutes!. it stung like hell at first but felt sooo wonderful after a minute!. is this a bad idea!? someone said i could get hypothermia or something, but could i really if only my legs are in the cold water and its only for 15 minutes!? i might do this every day or every other day!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Athletes put their legs in ice water for up to half an hour to get their legs fresh for the next day and rugby players and footballers put their whole bodies in, so what you are doing is fine!. However you should take time to adjust to the water, by slowly lowering your legs into the water one part at a time, otherwise it can be bad for your blood going from warm to cold quickly (and vise versa)!. The only thing to look out for is if you feel any numbness, then tht is your body telling you that it's enough! By just putting your legs in you are not at risk from hypothermia, and if you adjust correctly if you decide to put in your whole body you will also be fine!. Un-controlable shivering is one of the symptoms of hypothermia!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
