Question: I am considering a fast for detoxifying my system!.
Has anyone ever done a fast, and if so, how long did you fast!? Did you just drink water, or was it a juice fast!? Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

People fast for many reasons, but most do not do more than one day or 24 hours!. Even then they will usually consume liquid in the form of water and juice to maintain their blood sugar levels!. Honestly though, a fast will not do magic as far as "detoxifying" anything!. It's really hard to leach anything like heavy metals out of the body, and nothing you can eat or drink will do that!. The intestines are designed to clean themselves, providing you eat a decent diet of real food, and not loads of junk!. The liver and kidneys are built in filters, and are also good at their jobs!. While you may well have a certain amount of pesticide residue in you, as well as traces of various heavy metals- fasting will not remove them, unfortunately!. Honestly, the body is a well made, very efficient machine- and we have yet to build anything that duplicates the functions anywhere near as good!. If you wish to fast for spiritual reasons, then I suggest you drink juice and try to take in at least 1000 calories per day so you have the minimum intake needed to run body functions without damage to anything!. I also suggest you do not do this for more than a few days at the most, certainly not more than 3 or 4!. At that point, with minimal intake, the body will begin to break itself down, meaning muscle tissue and bone mass- to prevent your starvation!. You would tend to become less mentally alert as the days pass as well- so you could end up feeling worse than you started, and still not detox anything!. On nothing but water, you will likely end up in an ER by the fourth or fifth day, at most- unconscious and getting an IV to stabilize your blood sugar!. I've personally done a 25 hour fast for religious reasons, and although I did feel better spiritually, I can't say I felt great physically!. The decision is yours, but if you chose to do this, at least understand what it will and won't do for you, and what it can do to you if you get too radical about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

24 and 36 hours, nothing but water!.!.!. 48 hours once (first day, just water, second day, 8 oz juice every 4-6 hours)!. I think I did about 72 hours once also, but the entire time I was drinking juice every few hours as above!.
I havent ever intentionally fasted longer than 3 days, unless being sick counts!.!.!. probably doesnt as I was not doing anything but laying around!. Lol

Fasting and detoxing don't work!. Perhaps temporarily, but they don't remove fat - only toxins!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
