Girls: How often do you work out and for how long?!


Question:

Girls: How often do you work out and for how long?

What kind of exercises do you do and do you work out to maintain or lose weight? - has your workout regime helped you in either of those goals? Do you start gaining weight when you stop working out? How long can you go without working out and not gaining weight? Do you diet as well or just work out?


Answers:

I drop my kids off at school and then walk 1.3 miles to the swimming baths where I swim for 45 - 50 mins and then walk the 1.3 miles home again to pick my son up from nursery which all in all takes up 2 and a half hours of my time every morning (except weekends where Im running round taking my kids to football lessons and tutors)

Even though Im doing all of the above everyday, I still have to watch what I eat - especially as I am not very tall - I feel that 2000 calories a day is WELL over what my body requires - I would gains pounds if I ate a 2000 calorie a day diet, despite the exercise.

When I don't eat well (especially around certain times of the month) and pig out on bad food, I find that my exercising (as above) doesnt help me loose weight but it does help me stay toned and firm despite the pounds I can gain during this time.

I did stop my walking and swimming for a couple of weeks as I had a nasty infection which really took me down. I put on half a stone in that two weeks - but it was a gradual increase and not helped by my eating alot of comfort foods in front of the telly whilst 'resting up'.

But its horses for courses.
