Don't (do not) lift weights at your age, yes it does stunt your growth!. You don't wanna stay short forever do you!? U can lift 8lb weights to keep your arms nice and toned!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

"Lifting weights is useful for growing muscle, assisting in fat loss, boosting metabolism, and increasing strength - but should young teenagers be weight lifting!?"

"I believe the answer is yes - with appropriate education and management!. Sadly most education comes from magazines touting supplements and even steroid use!. The issue of childhood obesity and possible solutions must be debated - and resistance training is a piece of the puzzle!."

I started at the age of ten!. I have been lifting ever since!. It has never affected my growth (i'm 6'4 242lbs) The kids in my high school that didn't start until freshman year, could hardly keep up with me in football and wrestling!. I believe it is great you would rather lift than be playing video games all day!. Just remember, for everyday of weights, you should always throw in some cardio!. You don't wanna be all fast twitch muscle (fast twitch is power lifting, slow twitch is endurance muscle) Good luck bro!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

"As long as the resistance is not so high that it would cause the bones to become more dense and thus close the epiphysis (the growth area of a long bone) then there should not be any detrimental effects!."

Basically, don't go crazy!. Only lift as much weight as you can handle 10 reps of!. Read the full article from the site if you want to learn more but to keep it short and simple, no it will not stunt your growth as long as you aren't power lifting crazy amounts of weight!. Wait til you're 18 for that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't go heavy until you are deep in puberty by a good bit, until then there's no point!. I started lifting at 14 at this time i was getting in puberty and I'm almost 18 now and 5'10 I have never slipped a disk or damaged any growth plate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

but i lifted weights sometimes in track practice at the age of 13
i think your dad might be right though !.!.because my dad used to say the same thing!.!. I would advice you to be safe and wait about 1 year or till whenever you turn 14Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, lifting weights correctly won't do you any harm!. Make sure if your planning on benching or squatting weight, that you have your dad or a friend spot you!. As long as you lift weight safely, you will gain muscle and still grow normally!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
