Question: Do you think I'm underweight or not!?
I'm 12 years and 8 months old!. I'm 5'6" and I weigh 102 pounds!. My mother seems to think I'm underweight!. What do you think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Put it this way, there are 4 BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18!.5
Normal weight = 18!.5-24!.9
Overweight = 25-29!.9
Obesity = 30+
You have a BMI of 16!.5, so yes, according to this you are underweight (although I think this really applies to 16+, as by that time your body has properly taken shape!.) You are probably just naturally very skinny, as 102 pounds is still quite low for a 12 year-old!. If you are eating when you're hungry then that's all you need to worry about!.!.!. You will start to fill out soon and then weight gain will definately start to take place!. It's when you start getting into your late teens that you should be concerned if your 'BMI' shows that you are underweight!.

Well, if you are purposely staying skinny, quit it!. Not to be harsh, but being 5'6 at any age and weighing 100 lbs isnt healthy!.
If you are eating normally, you may just have a very high metabolism, and may need to see a family dr, or nutritionist who can put you on a certain diet to make you look and feel better balancing your food groups out!.

Forget everyone elses answers and what your mum thinks!. You're TWELVE YEARS OLD!. That means you're still growing taller and your body hasn't properly filled out yet!.
It took me until about 16 to actually put on some weight and fill out, with boobs etc!. I was always long and lanky and every day I got asked why I was so thin and pale!.

You are still growing and maturing!. All the stuff about BMIs, the height / weight charts only apply to ADULTS!. There are different charts for children under 18!. Stick to a healthy diet, without the junk foods!. Growth uses load of calories!.!.!. try to listen to your body and eat when you feel hungry!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
I am 5'8" and i weigh 128 and i am a 9th grade boy do you think i am underweight in my opinion almost no one is underweight maybe a little light like me and you but not definitely underweight!.

Hey actually I have a 12 yr old friend the same age as you she's like 5 foot and she's only 60 something pounds but she eats just fine but yeah that's underwieght for her and I don't think your really underwieght as long as you eat right and everything elseWww@Answer-Health@Com
don't listen to these guys if you eat lots you will get fat just keepping like the way you are and don't worry about lot's of teenagers are underweight you quickly grow out of it when your older!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi yes i guess it is your height that is making you slimmer, maybe if you try some build up drink before your meals it may help!.
