Answers:
Breakfast: Choose only one serving fruit or juice, unsweetened:
small orange or 1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 small grapefruit or 1/2 cup grapefruit juice
1 cup tomato juice
1 large tangerine
1/4 medium cantaloupe
1/4 small honeydew
1 cup strawberries
Include one egg, boiled or poached
Add any one item from this list:
1 slice bread (white, rye, or whole wheat)
1/2 cup dry cereal
1/3 cup cooked cereal
1/2 cup hominy grits
3 slices melba toast
5 saltines
5 graham crackers
1 inch matzoth
1 teaspoon butter or margarine
Beverages: Include one 8 oz!. glass non-fat milk
If desired- tea or coffee (no cream, no sugar)
Artificial sweetners may be used
Lunch:
choose one- either meat, fish or poultry- only one
lean meat, fish, or poultry-2oz!.=2 slices - 3x21/4x1/4
Meats:
lean beef, lamb, veal
liver, heart, kidney
Poultry:
chicken or turkey
Fish:
Halibut, Haddock, Codfish
1/2 cup salmon, tuna, crab, or lobster
5 medium oysters, shrimp, or clams
Do not eat: gravy, pork, duck, sausage, or goose
Note: Meat, fish, or poultry may be baked, broiled or stewed, but not fried or creamed!. You may substitute 2 eggs or 1/2 cup cottage cheese for 2 oz!. of meat!.
Vegetables: Choose 2 servings (at least one green or yellow) One serving= approximately 2/3 cup
Asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, chicory, cucumber, escarole, greens, lettuce, mushrooms, okra, peppers, radishes, sauerkraut, string beans, summer squash, tomatoes, fresh or canned juice
Dinner:
Same choice and portions as lunch
Instructions-
Bread (white, rye or wheat) one slice or small roll
Butter or margarine or mayonnaise- one measure teaspoon
Gelatin dessert, if desired
May use: salt, pepper, lemon, vinegar, herb spices, artificial sweetners, low calorie dressing!.
These foods can be eaten between meals:
Raw vegetables: celery, cabbage, tomato, radishes, cucumber, greens, clear broth!.
Note: Measure each portion of food carefully!. Eat only those foods on list!. Substituting other foods seriously interferes with the proper balance of your diet!. Take all the water you want!. Do not fry any of the foods you eat!. Do not flavor foods with gravies!.
This was given to me by a doctor and looks like a very involved diet, but it is really easy once you get it down, and it really works!. I have used this and lost weight on it pretty quickly and given it to my friends and they have lost weight on it, too!. I put this on 3 index cards and carried it with me every where I went!. 2!. Drink water instead of sodas, juices, milky drinks or alcohol!. Avoid diet soda - the sweet taste only encourages you to crave sugar!. Hot water with a slice of lemon can be very refreshing in the morning!.
3!. Halve your intake of all pure or added fats!. This means using half as much butter or spread on your bread, toast, muffins and potatoes; half the usual amount of mayonnaise or sauce on your salad; and half the oil in the frypan every time!.
4!. Limit treats containing sugar to three times per week!. This includes chocolate, ice cream, desserts, cake, pastries, cookies, etc!.
