Question:

I wanted 2 discuss my weight issue with u and wanted some advice.I am 20 years and I am 5ft5"&weigh 189.HELP

I have put on a lot of weigh starting grade 10 of high school. I use to play a lot of sports and was active and then I lost out on all that once I was overloaded with school work and could not manage to do much. I have this summer to burn off as much fat as possible but I need expert advice from people that know how to lose weigh or have gone through what I am going through and succeeded. I want to know how much time I should spend exercising and foods that I should eat and what i should stay away from. I really need help because I have trouble finding clothes that fit now and all that I've owned is getting tight. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:)

When I was hitting puberty I put on a lot of weight. I was 5'6 and 175. I tried slim fast and all kinds of diets but nothing helped, I would lose a few pounds and then nothing. I finally lost weight at 21 years old and went to 125 lbs.kept it off until I got pregnant 8 years later, then I gained some weight, but not as much as i had back then. I did it by not dieting..but by changing my lifestyle. I made changes to cut out unneeded calories like I used mustard on sandwiches instead of mayo, skipped cheese and used whole wheat bread or a salad at a grocery store salad bar with either lowfat dressing or red wine vinegar. I ate dinners early because I had an evening class that went until 10 pm so I ate dinner at 5 or 6 pm and it was usually a Lean Cuisine or something healthy. When I ate out I would get grilled chicken breast, no appetizers and no dessert, but lots of vegetables. For breakfast usually had yogurt or bagel with cream cheese....I just wanted to change the way I thought about eating bcause I didn't want to constantly have to yo-yo diet, I wanted something I could stick with and live with. I also went to the local high school and walked and added that as an addition to my lifestyle, not something temporary just to lose weight as I had previously.

Another great thing to add is something called the Step Diet. You wear pedometer all day and try to get 10,000 steps. You will become competitive with yourself and look for ways to add more steps in your day. Its great and you don't feel like you are exercising and you'll be amazed at how few steps we actually take in a day ( if sitting at a desk all day at work, or school etc.)

Swimming is also a great exercise and jumping rope burns quite a few calories.... Just little things you can add to your daily exercise.
