I'm not convinced that BodyPump and Yoga are going to keep your weight off as neither are high calorie burners!. I do BodyPump once a week max just to make sure I do some weights!.

At my gym BodyPump seems to be popular with the ladies, but I've never been quite sure why!. In my book its a toning class, so it'll boost your core strength and assist with muscle definition, but won't do too much for your overall cardiovascular fitness!. For example, if you are 'flabby', then those strong stomach muscles are going to be hidden under the flab!.

I've been doing yoga for nearly two years and it is the last class I do in the week before taking a rest day!. I have found the stretching helps to prevent injury (I do a lot of running), but equally I have had several episodes of the stretching in yoga causing me its own problems!.

Yoga is very much 'in vogue' at the moment, but I have found an hours yoga to be only about half as good as burning calories as half an hours hard cycling!. That said the variation of doing yoga in a hot room will burn more calories than 'standard' yoga!.

If you were only getting knee pain on the cycle, I would say that you should get someone in the know to make sure that you have it set up right, as your knees could be bending outwards (I'm prone to doing that)!. That you experience the same problem on another piece of equipment may be indicative of a bigger problem so you might want to consult a doctor or sports physiotherapist!.

There are other CV exercises beyond cycle and the cross trainer so you might want to look into trying them!.

If you go the yoga route, make sure you tell the instructor about your knee pain before the class starts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i don't know but i did yoga to help my knee as it is seriously messed up from horseriding and it made it worse and i had to give up the gym aswell!. i am 16 and 8 stone 2!. i am to also considering getting knee supports
but at 8 stone 10 you've got to concider if you eat healthy are you going to get flabby!?!?!?
sorry i know its not much help but i thought that if i told you my story it might help you just that little bit!

Yoga is great for all round toning and maintenance of muscle tone!. It is great for anyone who has joint problems!.

Speak to your yoga instructor and make them aware of the problems you have had in the past, most asama's (postures) can be tailored to each individual person!.

Why not go to gym but don't use either the cycle or the cross trainer!?

Yoga is great for strength but you need to find a good teacher who will coach you not to over extend joints etc!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yoga will be fantastic for you - just make sure that you tell your yoga teacher your problems before you start because he/she will tailor certain positions around your condition!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Definitely yoga will help you!. As the first answerer replied consult your Yoga Instructor!. I have heard Vajrasana may be useful and effective in curing joint pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
