Weight lifting question? ?!

Question: Weight lifting question!? !?
How do you know the difference between the normal pain of weight training and pain from a injury!? A while a go I injured my shoulder (rotator cuff)!. That was 6 months ago and I have recovered!. Ever since my injury, when I do the bench press, my upper shoulder aches!. Now I've been told that professional weight lifters test there limits and work around the pain!. Weight lifting is not supposed to be easy or painless right!? But they also say that training a injured muscle can worsen the injured muscle and make you loss progress!. So how do I know when I should fight through the pain or allow the muscles to recover!? Should I see a sports medicine doctor or am I being a wimp!?

I have a torn rotator cuff and went through months of physical therapy- I never do bench press or chest flies anymore!. I use machines at my gym that do the same basic exercises but I'm extremely cautious about the range of motion! You have to be careful and mindful of this injury- it won't heal itself! You may reach points of feeling better but it won't go away! My doctor finally told me if and when I'm ready, he'll fix it but I've learned to work around the injury and have found other froms of exercise I enjoy as well!.Bottom line!? See a dr!.- you'll need MRI,etc!. to show the extent of damage and go from there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Weightlifters test the limits by working as hard as they possibly can in the gym!. By working through the pain, that means when they ache or feel lazy or are sore they still get up and get to work!. An injury is a whole other thing!.

Trying to work through an injury is foolish!. If you have an injury you don't work out and be "tough", you go to a doctor to get it checked out, and when it is fine for you to weightlift again get right back on track!.

Best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i had shoulder injury in feb 2008 for rotator cuff and went back to the gym in july to do some light workouts!. i have the same pain when i do the bench press!. i couldn't do it because it hurt bad even with just the bar and no weights!. you might want to have that looked at before you do anymore!.!.!.!.shoulder injury may heal somewhat but it will always be there when doing certain things!. my shoulder healed somewhat before the surgery but i couldn't throw or swing a bat!.!.!.or move my arms in certain directions!.!.!.there was always a clicking feeling in my arm!. i would suggest stopping and go to the doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
