Any suggestions or tips about fasting?

I want to go on a short fast, probably no longer than a week. I think all I want to do is just stick to drinking just water during that time rather than having juice or anything else.

Are there any tips or suggestions I can have? For those who've done something like this before, how did you feel about it afterwards? What were the effects?


Answers:

I've only done juice fasting, not water fasting, but I can probably offer you some tips and suggestions.

First off, you will want to prepare properly by cutting down on food intake 3-4 days before the fast. Many people limit the diet to just fruits and vegetables a few days ahead of time.

During the first few days you will probably experience headaches and intense emotions, make sure you are drinking enough water. Headaches are very common the first few days. Sometimes the tongue will develop a coating, which eventually wears off (some people use this as a sign that the fast is "complete" when doing it for health reasons).

When you break your fast, absolutely do not binge. You will need to ease back into a normal diet. If you really do water fast, then start with just drinking juices for a day instead of diving into a big meal.

Do not fast if you have any medical conditions.
