Is this sound advice from a dietitian, in regards to bulimia and EXTREME caloric!

Question: Is this sound advice from a dietitian, in regards to bulimia and EXTREME caloric restriction!.!?
Hi,

I've had bulimia for 4 years, now I'm wondering whether or not what a dietitian recommended is sound science!. Instead of purging my food my dietitian said, "if you were to stop purging, digest the calories, you would eventually reach your previous weight"!.

I guess the fear that I have in gaining weight is that I will keep gaining and lose control!. I've gained 10 lbs in a month, no small feat for me because I've been losing almost 2 lbs or more a month for the last 4 years!.

My ideal weight and the weight I retained before bulimia was 150!. Would I naturally head in that direction, or would I undershoot or overshoot!?

Thanks!

Humm, not sure why the previous person assumed you were female, the name BEN suggests otherwise!
The dietician is sort of right!.!.!. BUT if you were to reach your previous weight and still find yourself bingeing you would continue to gain weight!.

Usually bingeing is a result of many factors, starvation and emotional / mood ones!. If you were to be eating a "normal" amount of food, your weight would go back up, initially its not at all unusual to gain a scary amount BUT a lot of the initial gain is fluid retention due to glycogen repletion and it will settle down!.

Your metabolic rate will be all over the place and your body will be confused and not trust you to keep giving it an adequate amount of food on a consistent basis, so it will initially hang on to all the calories you give to it!. BUT it will settle and you will NOT continue to gain loads and loads endlessly!.

If you are eating an adequate amount the starvation will be less of a driving force!. You will be more able to face and deal with the emotional side of your bulimia!.

You will find bingeing is a habit, and an addiction!. Reducing and stopping will be very hard!. BUT if you are eating enough, you would be giving yourself a chance to recover!.

The fear of regaining the weight you lost and then gaining another 4 stone on top isn't the norm!. You will find when your body has better nutrition you can reduce then stop bingeing!.

Have you got someone to help you!? Support, therapy!? You can recover!. Best of luck!.

The nutritionist is right in what she is saying!.

Do the calorie intake she discussed with you, but don't do it with junk/fried/fast foods!.

Calorie intake is important, just as how you consume the calories is!.

Talk with her more about what foods you should especially intake on a daily basis!.

Good luck on your road to recovery kiddo!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

150 is large unless you are a very very tall womenWww@Answer-Health@Com

It takes 3500 to gain a lb and 3500 to LOSE a lb!. If you were to eat a daily intake of 2000 and just MOVE around a LITTLE, I think that you would not really GAIN period!. Even if you ate 3500 and moved around you probably wouldn't GAIN!. Bulimia is all about control!. Why don't you control what you EAT and what you BURN rather than trying to "eat" what you want and then controlling it by purging!?

P!.S!. Moo Moo is an IDIOT!. I am 5'4 and I'm 160!. Most people think I look great!. I've had to deal with BMI's the whole time thinking I was overweight, but it was just my muscle mass!. I look GREAT and you probably do TOO!. At 150, I was my MOST fabulous!. You'll be FINE!.

Edit:at 5'10 and 150, you are considered very underweight being male!. Plus, most women like a man to be slightly larger than her!. Sexy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
