I commute by bike and its great exercise and a great way to get around but I also do upper body workouts without any equipment and for free!. I typically stop at a park or a school (after hours) and use the playground equipment for chin-ups (some areas have adult outdoor equipment) either on a high bar or rings!.
To this I add a variety of push-up like exercises (there are many variations to work slightly different muscles and to make it more challenging), sit-ups (ditto) and a lot of stretching!. I usually do my push-ups and sit-ups on a slope to make it more challenging!.
Sometimes its nice to go to a gym and use the equipment there (I did that for twenty years) but I find that my outdoor workout without equipment covers the major muscle groups and provides a good all around workout!.
Swimming is a good addition if there is any body of water near you!.
I do enough cycling and other leg intensive work that I don't really need to train my legs much but if you do want to, you can climb a mountain with a backpack (or if there are no mountains do step-ups on a chair or bench)!. Lunges are also a very good all around leg exercise that doesn't need equipment!. Start with just your body weight and then either hold heavy things in your hands or use a backpack (water bottles make good weights)
There are literally hundreds of things you can do without equipment!. Its a fallacy (supported by the billion dollar exercise industry) that you need equipment to exercise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
