Answers:
How and why steroids work is very scientific!. I'll give you as simple an explanation as possible but it's a long one!.
All steroids are basically the same thing, synthetic hormones!. Namely testosterone!.

When natural testosterone gets mixed with synthetic testosterone it has both anabolic and androgenic characteristics!.
Anabolics involve the growth of lean muscle!. Androgenic involves male characteristics!.

Whenever you use a drug of any kind, including roids, it has 2 effects on the body!. The effect of it solving the problem you're using them for (therapeutic effect) and side-effects (non-therapeutic effect)!.

The cells in your body are accepting of drugs because of cell receptors!. They're like an electrical outlet that turns an action on and off in your body!. Take a drug and it fills the relevant receptor and tells the cell which activity to activate or deactivate!.
So drugs actually do nothing more than tell the cells in your body what to do!.

Steroids fill the cell receptors that tell the cells to make new proteins!. Your body normally does that itself but roids just tell them to do it faster!.

When roids enter the body it does a few things before exiting!.
If it's an oral steroid it has to go through the digestive system!. It then enters the liver for the first time called the first pass!. There it's absorbed into the blood stream!.
Intravenous steroids go directly into the blood stream and so have a quicker absorption rate!.

When they're in in the blood stream they get shuttled around the body by the blood stream!. They metabolize while in the body, mostly in the liver where they are toxic!. That's why people who take roids have to monitor their liver and have regular blood work done!. Not doing that presents a very real danger of damaging your liver!.

Generally the kidneys handle excretion of drugs!. Steroids aren't, they are excreted by the liver, breasts, skin and lungs!.
That's where most of the side effects take place!.

Steroids have a limit of effectiveness!. In other words, there is a point at which more will have no added benefit!.
Also, the greater the dose, the greater the chance of side effects and the worse they will be!. The reason is that the body has a limited number of cell receptor sites!. When they are filled the extra hormones have nothing else to do but be excreted!.

Men normally produce enough testosterone to fill most receptors!. It doesn't take much more to fill the rest!.

If only a few cells get filled by the right type of molecule, the cell will respond at a low level!. If all of them are filled, the cell gives its maximum response!.

So all steroids do is fill all the receptors so that you have a maximum amount of testosterone in your body!.

Steroids therefore don't directly increase size or strength!. They increase testosterone!. The more testosterone you have in your body the more weight you'll lift and the better your muscles will respond to it!.
That translates into any training including martial arts or athletics!.

If you can make your muscles work better then you will perform better!.

Now, I'm a 260lb powerlifter and I've never even touched steroids because in my 12 years as a personal trainer I've seen what they can do!.

Sure some people get lucky and have minimal side effects but the risks of serious side effects are just too great!.

There are a couple of ways to get exactly the same results naturally!. And it's cheaper!.

1) Creatine!. Creatine improves your primary energy system!. The more energy you have the better you perform!.

2) Tribulus Terrestris!. Tribulus is a natural herb supplement!. It increases the bodies ability to produce testosterone!.

3) Zinc and Magnesium!. Don't waste your money on ZMA!. Just supplement Zinc and Magnesium!. Never take more than 40mg of zinc!. It becomes toxic at high doses!. About 15-20 is good since you get quite a bit of zinc from your diet!. Magnesium has no known upper limit but the RDA is around 400mg!. 500mg is a good amount!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
