If the doctor says you need to gain weight, is it alright to gain weight in fat?!

Question: If the doctor says you need to gain weight, is it alright to gain weight in fat!?
The doctor says I'm a little underweight for my height and age and that was all that was said about it!. I wish I had thought at the time to ask him, but it wasn't until I got home I thought about it!. I mean it's going to be a little hard to gain 5-8 pounds in muscle!. How should i go about gaining weight!. I'm 5'6 and I weigh 100 lbs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he didn't give you instructions on how to gain weight, it wasn't a serious issue!. You don't want to gain just fat!. Try increasing your caloric intake by 500-600 but keep exercising and being active!. Don't add foods that are high in cholesterol or saturated fats either!. Just be healthy but add more calories!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Actually it would be better to do weights and gain muscle!. Muscle weighs more than fat!. Not only that, but you burn more calories when you are resting if you have more muscle, which will prevent you from gaining fat weight!. You should definitely get muscle mass!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
