I have stress fractures in my spine and cannot do sit ups or crunches without ending up in pain!. Are there any exercises that I can do while standing up!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Bicycle crunch - lie on back with knees bent, lift both feet off floor bringing knees towards chest then do a cycling action and bring each elbow to opposite knee at same time!.

Pelvic floor squeeze - lie on floor, imagine self going to toilet and stop yourself - tighten and hold several times!.

spine press - lie on back with knees bent and squeeze pelvic floor!. using pelvis lower back to floor!. Feel abdominal muscles contract and hold for ten seconds

Hip bridge - as spine press but then lift hips into air to make a straight line from knees to shoulders - hold for ten seconds and lower!.

Pot belly pull - standing, pull tummy towards spine squeeze and release several times!.

Roll down - a bit similar to sit ups but you start from sat with knees bent on floor then lower upper body back whilst holding knees (i find it a little easier than situps)

Try going on an exercise ball - they are so cheap to pick up or will be at your local gym!. I find them much funner than doing situps and theres a great book by lucy knight called exercise ball for weight loss that has tonnes of ways to use it not just for your tummy!.

You could also try getting an abdominal piece of equipment that supposedly makes situps easy, I dont personally like them but I dont think they cost much!.

Do some cardio too!! Also belly dancing is great for tummy exercising, plus fun!. I always feel much more toned in my tummy (and bum) after trampolining plus thats also cardio!. Lastly aqua aerobics make all tummy toming exercises much easier and feels more effective the next dayWww@Answer-Health@Com

Not while your standing up but lie down on the floor flat and rise your feet off the ground about 30cm hold for 3 seconds then bring them to the floor and your not allowed to hold on to anything after doing 5 have a 30second rest and carry on !Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are some work out routines that will work your abs while standing!. I have used Turbo Jam & Slim 'N 6 Express!. Both can be found at www!.beachbody!.com!. Also alot of kick boxing routines focus on keeping your abs tight throughout the entire workout!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try crunches and side crunches!. However, since you have spinal problems, it's important that you seek the advice of your doctor before trying any new exercise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Stand straight up with your feet shoulder width apart!. Hold a medicine ball in front of you, with your arms making 90 degree angles!. Then twist from one side to the other in a continuous motion!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm no fitness expert but if you consistently hold your ab muscles in over time they will become more toned, just squeeze toward your spine whenever you think about it!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
