Ok, how do I make them get the message.?!

Question: Ok, how do I make them get the message!.!?
I am over weight, and I am trying to lose weight!. I'm trying to be thin because I'm sick of everyone calling me fat!.

My aunt and nan often clash with me because I refuse to eat the food they give me either because it is junk food or I have already eaten a few hours ago!.

They say EAT IT! I say I don't want it they say they don't care they want me to have it!. They would shove it down my gob!.

I'm 16 and I want to choose when I eat, mum gets to do it, so I think I should get it too!. I always say that they're making me fat and they say I'm not but I am!. my bmi is 31!. I'm around 10 stone lighter than my aunt!. She is around 23 stone and so is my Nan!.

My Mum is more understanding and we both usually get active together with her boyfriend!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
No, you want to be *SLIM*, not *THIN*!. Thin is a word associated, by me at least, with an eating disorder, and you certainly don't want to go down that road (see my profile)!.

You need to go and see your GP because you are not overweight, you are obese - almost morbidly so and it is potentially dangerous for someone so overweight to do any kind of strenuous exercise!. You need to go to your GP and be referred to a dietcian specialising in helping obese young people lose weight safely!.

I want to help you (because you are one of the few teens I've seen round here with her head screwed on straight!) but I am always worried when I offer to help a teenager that they aren't being 100% straight (I'm not saying you're not but I did offer to help another girl around your age and it transpired she'd been lying to me all along and her purported BMI of 35 was 20 points higher than her real BMI (I found this out because she began posting to an ED forum I belong to - I am a recovering anorexic - she signed up using the same user-name she was using here and I became suspicious so I checked her profile and it was her (I use a different username elsewhere)!. I'm afraid I really blasted her for lying to me - well I was helping her to kill herself!)

May I ask why your aunt and nan get to feed you so often!? Do you all live in the same house - or are they just down the road!?

Yes, you are old enough to choose when - and what - you eat, but you MUST lose the weight sensibly!. As far as exercise goes, you need to start gently (try a 15 minute walk every day and build up from there; strenuous exercise when you are so very overweight will do more harm than good!.)

Get your mum on your side and sit down with your aunt and nan and discuss what you will and will not eat and why!. Do some research first and give them facts about why you won't eat something!. Get the facts in writing if you need to!. If they can't accept this then you're in for a long fight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can have portions of 'junk food' but have a small portion!. If your aunt/nan gives you a large portion and you really aren't hungry, eat 1/4 and say you are grateful for the meal, but you aren't hungry as you ate before!.

One thing you have to realise during the weight loss journey is that 1) it takes time and 2) you can't avoid everyone or junk food because you fear it will make you put on the weight you work hard to lose!.

I weighed 12!.5 stones and lost 4 stones!. I never "deprived" myself and did eat food others cooked for me, but I ate it in MODERATION!.

Good luck with the weight loss, email me if you ever want anymore advice!.

This sounds like a tricky situation, but you should definitely put your own best interests before anything else, and in this case that means sticking to a healthy diet and ignoring the pressure to be what they want you to be!.

I think that talking to them might help, but don't wait until you are in a stressful situation to do the talking - sit down with them, when it's not a meal time, and there's no food around, and explain how you feel and what you want, and tell them you want your wishes to be RESPECTED!. You deserve that much!.

Keep up the exercise etc, and good luck with it all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
