Are these vitamins fat solubal?!
Question:
Are these vitamins fat solubal?
As in, do these vitamins need to be taken with fat in order to be absorbed properly?
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B12
Niacin
Magnesium
Zinc
Which do and which don't? Thanks a bunch if you can answer!
Answers:
No, none of those vitamins require fat for absorption.
The b-vitamins (b6, 12, and niacin) will be absorbed in the gut by special enzymes.
The zinc actually is best absorbed when consumed with animal protein. Dietary fiber like bran, wholegrain cereals, pulses and nuts, inhibit zinc absorption.
As for magnesium, meals high in protein or fat, a diet high in phosphorus or calcium (calcium and magnesium can compete), or alcohol use may decrease magnesium absorption.
