How do I stop myself from binge eating?!

Question: How do I stop myself from binge eating!?
I have been on a diet for ages and have managed to lose loads of weight, but these past few weeks I just keep binge eating, and while I'm eating I feel so terrible about it that all I do is eat more, its like a vicious circle, tonight I have eaten so much and now I feel so depressed about it, I have such a terrible relationship with food, its my addiction, I have spoken to the doctor about this but there is no help available unless you are seriously obese of bulimic, which I am not, and now all I keep thinking about is having to stave myself for the next few days so I don't put more weight on because of all I have eaten tonight, is any one else like this or am I completely mad greedy and messed up etc etc!.

Oh and by the way i'm 35 so should totally no better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have struggled with this problem for 35 years and your right there is no help !.
I have currently lost about a stone but its taken about 3 months as I have had the odd binge!.
The only thing I have noticed is if I allow myself any carbs like bread ,cakes , biscuits ect I want to eat all day !.
The slimming world has worked the best for me so I will keep going !.
The trouble with food addiction is that you still have to eat to stay alive unlike drugs or drink you can just stay away from them and never touch them !.
I really dont think people realise how powerful food addiction is , I'm ok until I have one bite of something then it starts me off again!.
What diet have you been on and how much weight have you lost !.Maybe if you try a different diet it will get you back on track !. Good luck
Edit
Being bulmic isnt really about food its about control , and eating 6 packets of biscuits is just really over eating and nothing like what bulimics suffer !.I know women that have taken food from their bins and eaten dog and cat food , then they have sicked the whole lot up only to start again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Stop buying unhealthy foods!. When you are about to reach for crisps or chocolate you won't be able to!. Eat when you are hungry not when you feel like it!. Where your sugary, fatty foods are, leave notes saying things like, STOP! DON'T DO IT! Instead go for foods like cereals, make your own salad!. sandwiches!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

don't think about the food!.
don't buy the junk food!.
keep yourself busy by doing something
that you do with your hands, so it would unable
you to eat at the same time!. exercise instead, like
ride a bike, or something that keeps your mind off of food!.
Tell yourself that you won't throw away the hard work you did
for that diet you've had in a long time!. Buy food that you don't like!.
so that would mean you won't eat it!. Write a list of food you
promise to only eat for that day and that you can't eat anything else!.
At the end of the end of the month, see if you broke your promise!.
If you didn't go reward yourself and buy something for yourself!.
That might keep you motivated to keep it!. Make a poster that says
"Thou shalt not binge" or something so you can remind yourself!.

First, you should know that one or two or three bouts of binges are not going to make you gain 25 or 50 or 100lbs!. Gaining this amount of weight, for a normal person can take up to 6 months or a year of continuous over eating!.

Give yourself a break!. If you keep eating like this, your body must be in serious need of calories or nutrition if you've been starving yourself - or even controlling your eating for some time!.

It's a natural reaction that your body is having!. It thinks there is no or very little food around, so your limbic system (The limbic system is a term for a set of brain structures including the hippocampus and amygdala and anterior thalamic nuclei and a limbic cortex that support a variety of functions including emotion, behavior and long term memory) is taking over!.

Your body wants to survive, it wants to live - and if you've been denying yourself proper nutrition - the lymbic hunger will take over and can become unstoppable!.

So, when you are eating - first try to feel your hunger - is it in your stomach, or in your head!. If you feel physically full, then you can stop!. If you are not really hungry in the first place, then there is no need to eat right!

Just relax about it - the more you worry about bingeing, the more it will continue!. Just celebrate all the weight you've lost first!. Step back from your own psychosis about food for a while!. Just know that your body is trying to take care of itself, and you!. Trust it to tell you exactly what it needs!.

If you've been bingeing, chances are you were not eating correctly in the first place!. Look back at the kinds of foods you've been eating, at the variety, at the quality, at the amounts!. And make adjustments if necessary!.

Give yourself a huge break - if you feel a binge coming on, go for a brisk walk, read a book at the park - do something that will help you decide if you're really hungry - or just think you are!.

Good luck!.
