Help on toning my lower stomach and hips?

ive been doing tons of crunches and other exercises every night and its really helping my uper stomach but i really need to tone the lower part any suggestions on toning lower stomachs and even hips?


Answers:

Crunches & situps are great for your upper abdominals and external obliques, but not so great for your lower abdominals. Not too many people know this, but the only way to exersize your lower abdominal muscles is to do exercises that involve leg lifts. I don't mean just lifting the leg off of the floor a couple of inches, but bring it up to your chest as best you can. Steady yourself on something like a chair, and raise one leg at a time (duh?) as close to your chest as possible. You may even add ankle weights for more effect. Another good exercise for the lower abdominals, is to lay on your back- with your legs just over the edge on something like a bed. In this position you have full range of motion. Do your leg lifts in this position- one, or both at a time. You can utilize ankle weights here, too.
