Any good snacks made with whole wheat flour? Looking for crackers, pretzels bra!

Question:

Any good snacks made with whole wheat flour? Looking for crackers, pretzels brands I can find at the market.?

I'm on the ABs diet which allows you to eat carbs but no white flour - just whole wheat flour. I would like a pretzel or cracker snack (like cheez-its or wheat thins) to have during the day sometimes. I'm looking for brands in particular that are easy to find in the supermarket. Cheez-its and wheat thins say wheat flour but I doubt they are made with whole wheat flour! Thanks!

Answers:

Kashi. Everything they make is made with whole grain flour. Also, Snyder's, which makes pretzels and tortilla chips have whole grain snacks as well. I just looked at some Nabisco Wheat Thins at the grocery today. The box claims four or five grams of whole grains per serving, but the first ingredient is wheat flour. I had to read a bit before finding whole wheat flour. Wheat flour is just white flour with a wheat flavor. Whole wheat is the good stuff. Bottom line, if it doesn't say whole wheat as the first ingredient, I would advise that you don't get it.

Air popped pop corn is whole grain (all popcorn is, but air popped is healthier) as well. I'll pop some in the evening and pour some melted Smart Balance spread (all natural oils, nothing fully or partially hydrogenated) with it and some salt.

Also, just because something might say "whole grain" on the front or even organic or natural, or any other health claim doesn't mean it's so. Read the ingredients. Starting out, it might take some time, but once you find what you like within your budget, it will get easier.

PS-- I also don't do corn syrup or high fructose corn syurp, but that's a different topic, I guess.
