Walking is a great work out!. If you want to get more of a workout just speed walk!. Or run!.
Walking every day is a good start!. To really start making progress in weight reduction, you will need to gradually increase your daily distance to 2-3 miles!. Of course, you also need to moderately cut back on your eating at the same time!.

The toning effect from walking will be mostly limited to the legs!. If you carry light hand weights and move your arms vigorously while you walk, you can get toning in your upper body as well!. After slowly building up your endurance, you get more toning by increasing your walking speed!.

Walking is definetlly better than sitting on the couch eating Bon-Bons while watching Oprah!. I personallly love to walk, it is a great time to relax and think things through!.
Hand weights and weighted vest helps increase the work out vaule of a long walk if that is as intense as you plan to go!. So much more can be said but it all depends on your starting point, and your desired finish point!.
You might want to add in yoga, Ti Chi or such!.

Walk definitely helps tone your thighs, and if you tighten your core muscles while you walk and walk in long strides, it will definitely strengthen your abs! Www@Answer-Health@Com
