Is walking good enough to lose weight?!

Question:

Is walking good enough to lose weight?

I need to lose weight... a couple of stone.
I have always walked, and enjoyed doing so.
Now, 5-6 days a week, I walk my dog for 55 minutes on a course I've devised that includes 4 hills of varying steepness.
I walk this when my foot is not too painful, as unfortunately I am predisposed to arthritis in my toe joint. :( (Im only in my twenties)
I used to go swimming, and I used to do martial arts, which I am hoping to get back in to.

My question is:
Is just the hours walk a night enough to lose weight?
I'd rather not join an expensive gym, and I always find doing things in the fresh air preferable to toiling away on a machine inside.

Answers:

If you can try adding a brisk walk into your routine first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach.

This will help to raise your metabolism which will help you burn fat and stay at a good weight. Keep the walk on a night but an extra one first thing in the morning will really help.

Keep changin your route as well so your body doesnt get used to it. Every time you go try walking just alittle bit faster for say 5 minutes and then back down to your normal pace.
