I've been going to Curves for 3 months and haven't lost a single pound... help!?!

Question:

I've been going to Curves for 3 months and haven't lost a single pound... help!?

I got measured today and have only lost 1/2 of an inch in some places and nothing at all in others. What's going on?
I haven't been on a real diet, but I haven't been eating much, and I wasn't gaining any weight before I joined curves... why is my body staying the same?

I eat about 1500-1800 calories a day. But to be honest, it isn't all healthy stuff.
I do love fruit and vegatables, and most other healthy foods. It's just hard keeping them around the house.
Also, I have only lost about .03% body fat in three months.

Answers:

You mention you're not eating "much" - do you know how many calories you ARE eating? You may not be eating enough! You need *AT LEAST* 1200 calories a day, regardless of what you plan to do - even if you just sit up in bed all day. If you're losing weight, you need to provide your body with the nutrients it needs to keep you going, to keep you moving.

You also need to look at how your clothes are fitting you and how you FEEL. As you exercise, your body will replace fat with muscle, which may result in the scale not budging. Muscle is more dense than fat - and it takes up much less room, even though it weighs the same amount. So even if the scale doesn't move, that doesn't mean you aren't getting results. As you build that muscle, your body will become more toned, your clothes will fit better, and with more muscle, you'll burn more calories at a resting rate!

Talk to the Circuit Coaches at your Curves - ask them to watch you the next time you work out, ask them to push you a little bit, make sure you're really working the machines properly. If you're moving the machines hard and fast the way you're supposed to, you'll build more resistance. It shouldn't BE easy! You really need to work hard to get that resistance pumping so that you can get that great workout. Sometimes members will settle into a routine and just "go through the motions", not really pushing themselves or working very hard. Don't be afraid to ask for help, I am ALWAYS happy to offer my members advice or a little boost.
