a lot of research points to an ideal weight that your body will fight to maintain!. thats why people who lose weight often regain it and similar naturally thin people who try to gain weight lose it as soon as they stop trying!.

The older you get the more this weight is ingrained as your body's ideal weight and the harder it can be to change!.

As for getting bigger as you get older!.!.!. Im not sure thats true, but with age can often come disability and inactivity which could lead to weight gainWww@Answer-Health@Com

No that is not true!. It is true that as you get older your metabolism slows down and if you consume the same amount of calories as you did when your metabolism was faster you will gain weight!. All one has to do when they reach a certain age is consume less (but only if they notice their metabolism is slowing down)!. I am 53 years old and my metabolism is still extremely fast and I still do not gain weightWww@Answer-Health@Com

Even if you're sitting or lying down while reading this article, your body is still burning calories; the rate at which it does so is called your resting metabolic rate!. As you age, your metabolism tends to decelerate by about 5% for every decade of life past age 40, so that if your resting metabolic rate is, say, 1,200 calories per day at age 40, it will be around 1,140 at age 50!.

YES its absolutely true!. I am 44 and everyone I know has a harder time keeping weight off and losing it!.

But that doesn't mean you have to end up fat!. You will have to pay more attention to exercise and diet though!. You don't say how old you are, but if you are younger than 35 its better to start now and make it a habit instead of gaining weight at an older age and then having to work twice as hard to get rid of it!.
