Remember protein is not a medecine or special product!. It is a component of food that is all!. Your muscles are made up of protein!. In order to heal the muscle after training and make it grow the muscle needs protein to build with!.

Firstly, if you have a real interest in making real changes in your body then you need to be willing to put the time in and do some research!. the best places to learn this is in biology books and when I was 15 I learned a reasonable amount from abcbodybuilding!.com!. They have some quite informative articles!. Also remember that even if you dont want to look like a bodybuilder these people know what they are doing when it comes to making changes to their bodies!.(Obviously make sure it is a reliable source of information though as there is a lot of bullsh*t out there)

Right for protein in general you want meat, fish eggs and milk!. These are complete protein sources!. They will give you all the amino acids you require to build muscle!.

For post-workout protein the best thing you can have is whey protein mixed with dextrose, maltodextrin and water!. The reason for this is that after training, your body wants sugars to replace the glycogen in your muscle that you used while training!.It also wants fast digesting protein to repair the muscle!. This is optimal for postworkout however whey on its own is fine and if not then make do with any other good protein source!. Preferably not milk as the protein in this is very slow at digesting which!.

Remember though it is not just post workout you want protein, you want it at every meal and remember that 5-6 smaller meals a day are better than 3 big meals a day!. Ideally for most people looking to put on muscle mass you should be trying to get at least a gram of protein per pound of bodyweight!.

If I have written something you don't understand then you should look it up!. You put in a few hours and learn the basics and a bit of the science behind it then it becomes very easy to figure things out!.
