They are good for a lot of different exercises!.!.!. It helps to tone muscles while sitting on it because you have to balance yourself - use while lifting weights, crunches, push ups, etc!. Here's a site that has animated examples of what kind you can do on it!.

Yes, they can take the place of a chair!. The extra work you do in maintaining balance helps work stabilizer muscles & enhance your workout!.

strengthening abs, you can do crunches on them, it is also great for stretching the back!. I use mine for that!. You can work out legs aswell!. There is an excercise dvd for it!.
